You’ll receive a full refund, and our support team can help you find another car quickly.


13. Are there any hidden fees?

14. Do I need to pay a security deposit?


Yes. Hosts choose the deposit amount (often around $500).


Ventu places a hold on your card and releases it 48 hours after checkout, as long as the car is returned in good condition.

Small damages are covered by the security deposit.


For major incidents, the Host’s insurance policy applies, all Hosts must carry insurance that covers additional drivers during the rental period.


16. Does Ventu provide the insurance?


No, the Host’s insurance covers the rental period.


Every Host must provide a policy that legally covers renters driving their vehicle.


17. What documents do I need to rent a car?


You’ll need:

  • A valid driver’s license (international licenses accepted)

18. Are there restrictions on where I can drive in Costa Rica?

  • Ventu places a temporary hold on your payment card
  • The hold is released 48 hours after checkout as long as the car is returned in good condition


It’s fast, automatic, and handled entirely through the platform; never in person.


24. Does Ventu verify Hosts, cars, and insurance?


Yes. Ventu screens every Host and verifies:

  • Their identity
  • The vehicle they are listing
  • Their insurance policy (must legally allow renters to drive)


We also continuously monitor reviews, reliability, and compliance to ensure Hosts meet Ventu’s community standards.
